Word Choice Olympics pt II
I thought it would be a sunny day for a walk, but just in case I brought my umbrella because of the weather forecast. Halfway through my walk, the rain started dropping. The timing was impeccable, it just had to be right in the middle of the walk. However, I just kept walking because I had my trusty umbrella It was cloudy, dark and rainy. It was the perfect gloomy day. I finally reached the bridge that led back to my house. There in front of me I saw a black figure in the distance. It looked like a dog but I wasn't so sure. I slowly walked toward it and my heart started beating faster and faster. I was worried that it might be aggressive. When I approached it, I was surprised when I tried to pet it and it did not run away. It's friendliness startled me and I assumed that it was an abandoned. The dog gave me a warm feeling as it was so friendly. This day was a good day after all.
It was the states championships, we have been preparing for this moment all season long. It was the last quarter, and my adrenaline was rushing like a waterfall. We were down by 2 points and this game was the fight for the title. My coach brought all of my teammates and me together and we had a pep talk. I could feel his enthusiasm as he told us how we could win. He went over our game plan and that was that. Our final play of the season, all or nothing. As the quarterback, I had to make a decision if I was going to pass or run. The opponent started to run towards me and I had to make a decision, My mind went crazy, but I chose to run it. I ran with all the strength that I could muster and I felt like I had nothing to lose. Then boom, I get tackled. When I stand up, I see that I passed the touchline! My teammates surrounded me cheering. I couldn't believe my eyes, we did it. I ran across the field roaring with all my might. I ran toward my coach and gave him a big hug. This moment was the pinnacle of my high school experience.
